Work at home

Work at home
Working at home is great! You can work anytime you want without having problems due to heavy traffic or weather. You can just get up to your bed, open your computer and start your work. It's also more convenient since you can save more money with your food, you don't need to travel or pay fare on a taxi.

Pros
  • Save time, money and energy.
  • Be available at home for your children and family
  • Take breaks when you want
  • Take sick leave/vacation when you want

Cons
  • There are a lot of distraction and temptation.
  • There's also no health insurance.
  • It's lonely working without your friends physically.
  • Less chance for promotion
  • Boss doesn't see your hard work

Way Betterq

In my opinion, work at home is a lot way better than working in the office. I used to work in the office for more than a decade and I truly experienced how hard it was. Though there are too many cons most specifically that the promotion is too slow and the boss won't see how hard you work, but the fact that you won't be needing to commute for almost four hours is indeed priceless. It saves time, effort and money.

I also made the switch and I can admit that freedom when working from home is ten times that of being manned by a Boss. I also think that one should be careful to use their time well when working from home to enhance productivity.
NesMarcos
I would have to agree that one should be very cautious in the productivity rate when you work from home since there have been lot of temptation and distractions. Work from home can monitor if one is highly productive or just a lousy one.
TheArticulate
I know some people who work for a local company, and they get to work from home one day a week. It's not as much as working from home all the time obviously, but it's a huge benefit to them and they seem to have a high opinion of the company because of this allowance. It still requires them to come into the office (where they can show how productive they are in person), while still giving them an opportunity to work from home in a relaxed environment.

Perhaps a mixture of the two could be beneficial as well?
allyn2017
having a boss is stressful and I don't like commuting for hours to, just thinking about 4 hrs commute makes me tired. Well, good for you.

WAH!

I would much rather work at home because you save a lot of money in gas, save miles on your car, you can work privately, and it just feels more comfortable. I can not imagine why anyone would want to leave their house, go to the office and clock-in to start their work. At home all you have to do is get out of bed, and turn on your laptop/computer to get your work started.

A few more pros:

  • No office drama (sometimes there is a lot of drama in the workplace, and this won't be so if you were to work at home)
  • Private bathroom (i do not like to use public restroom as i beleive they are disgusting)
  • Lunch when you want (a lot of work places set your break times, and lunch times. at home you can take breaks whenever you want)
  • Parenting/Daycare (if you're a parent, you don't need to pay for daycare)
There is a whole list i could do, but these are basics! So work at home gets my vote, and always will!!

You may find yourself becoming obesity by overeating. At the office one eats at specified times.

I agree with the advantages you pointed out. I also don't want to participate with the problems of other people especially when it stresses others to the point productivity at work is already being sacrificed.. Regarding advantage of having a private bathroom, you have the control over its cleanliness. Lastly, I agree with having control over your breaks at work.

Good point, the thing I hate the most about office works are the jerk boss and nosy office mates who always put their noses in every one's business.

Much at ease

I have an 8-5 job which gives me security of tenure. However, it really drains my energy. At the end of the day, I'm very much exhausted. As for my work at home gigs, I feel so relaxed and at ease when I'm working. I can do my work on my bed, at my dining table, while eating or while watching a movie or while cuddling with my loved one.

If my work at home job matches the amount of money I'm earning like my 8-5 job, I'll do it full time.

I know how hard it every day for you to wake every morning and starts working in the office. Another thing that may frustrate you is being stuck in traffic every single day. Working from home is better but the money that we could get there is quite smaller than working in the office.
allyn2017
I agree with you, the only con I see with working online is the amount of money you'll get from it.
Mehano

Flexible

I can see the advantages of working from the office but still, I think that the majority will pick working at home. It's wayyy more comfortable and flexible. You can work on your own terms and in conditions you want to. I think it's less stressful so you can even be more productive.

I'd love to be able to work from home fulltime. As long as you can organize yourself you are good to go!

It's true and working at home is really comfortable and you'll be able to spend time with your family. It just doesn't pay well as office work.

Yes, but With an Exception

I like to work at home. However, though, my girlfriend nags me too much (She doesn't have a job so never leaves.). In that case, If I'm living with her, I want a separate office, but one that's private.

Maybe that was the most negative thing to happen when working at home. You are always with your girlfriend and she will always see what you are doing. No time for happenings with friends after work. Hehe

Lol. I do agree that there are a lot of distractions when you are working remotely from home. I, myself get frustrated when my mother always asks me to do things for her during work hours.

More freedom and flexible!

I would definitely choose to work from home if I am given a chance to do so. Before I became a stay-at-home mom, due to some difficulties during my first pregnancy, my ex-boss allowed me to work from home. I really enjoyed that experience. Though I was staying at home alone (with my lovely Labrador) most of the time, I liked that I can work at anytime I wanted. As a programmer, sometimes when I had ideas, I just felt like keep on working on the codes. But when I was in office, I might need to go out for lunch, attend meeting, go home when it's after working hours, talking to colleagues regarding work or non-work issues sometimes, etc. There were actually more distractions for me in the office. I still sent email to my boss frequently to update my work in progress, and hence he was able to see my effort too. I can really schedule my own time to work, and I can also go out if I need to, but I just carry my laptop with me. How flexible it is!

I guess the only thing I miss working in office is that, I can't communicate with my colleagues face-to-face and have fun with them.

Work From Home

Working at home was not my choice. It resulted when my survival instincts kicked in. But now that I do work at home, I don't see any reason to work in an office any more. I don't need physical social interaction. I get that from social media. I can work with others online just as easily as I did in the office.

What I really like is that I don't have to get up and go anywhere to get to work. No matter the weather I can get started with the job, as long as I have Internet access and no technical difficulties with my laptop. What I really like is the flexibility of being able to accommodate personal and family needs. After all your family is your priority. My work schedule can be easily adjusted to handle family matters.

I don't wish that I had started working from home earlier in my life however. It was the knowledge, skills, and abilities that I acquired while working in an office environment that gave me what I needed to be able to learn what I needed to learn and to supervise myself.

The best thing of all about working from home? I don't need references to HIRE ME and I won't FIRE ME! :)

I used to work in an office some time ago and the social interactions you cite there are sometimes a huge cause for poor productivity. There are people who keep gossiping at the office leading to laziness of each coworker.

Comfort.

This is quite an easy option, it's way better to work from your home, due to the fact that you're going to be way more comfortable and at the same time you'll save time by not travelling to work and back and for lunch breaks and so on. Of course, it isn't as easy to find a job at home as it is outside.

no time wasted

I hate having to travel and waste my time in the car. Maybe if I worked somewhere close and there was no traffic I'd pick working a more traditional way but that's not always the case and most of the time I would have to sit through a lot of travel time and doing that everyday just feels too much like a waste so I'd prefer to just work at home where I could at least spend that time on leisure and relaxation instead.

Flexibility.

One thing that I have come to notice about working from home is that it is going to give you the type of flexibility that you won't get easily from preparing everyday to go to the office. I have realized that it is always very easy for us to make things work when we work from home than what we see when we are looking at getting set and going to the office on a daily basis.

Saves time

There are a lot of benefits when we work at home. We tend to become more efficient and be productive at the same time. Instead of spending much time in commuting going to work, at home we can spend wasted time to work or we can spend such time with our family instead. I am comfortable when working at home. I can actually listen to music while working or at least unwind from time to time. This is very different from what I actually do in office wherein we are not allowed to eat, listen to music during office hours.

I would actually 100% choose work at home over work at office. You can save your transportation budget, and you won't get stress by traffic because in my country. You will get stress already on your way going to your office because of the traffic and other hindrances in the road. Unlike if you are working at home, you won't think of getting late again or even stuck on a heavy traffic. Plus, you can work anytime as long as you can finish it on time with high quality.

I work from home right now, and I really do enjoy it. Sure, sometimes I do miss having co-workers beside me to chat to, but there's something about being able to set my own hours, work when it's convenient for me, work in comfortable attire (sweatpants, pajamas if I really want!) and not having to battle a long commute that makes it all worth it!

One of the reasons why I prefer to work at home is that I can control my personal schedule without the pressure of anyone like my boss or my manager/team leader. It would also save more money because the money you use for commuting or for gas would not be need, you can just save it, that is why I prefer working at a home based job rather than an office based job.

Easy and faster

To me working at home is much better than working at the office. Now this is due to the fact that when you work from home you are basically free to do what you want at anytime in the constraints of the work. Thus to say you do not have to deal with Bosses Breathing down on your neck and giving you work upon works expecting you to finish at the shortest time ever. With work at home you have you own time you can work, you can choose to work in the morning, afternoon or even in the night. All that is required is you finish what you have been given to do at your own pace and strength. You also get the opportunity to have enough time for you social group and your family.

Home is better.

Working at home is better than working outside. Mainly because I can save in different aspects such as money, time and effort. When working at home, you don't need to spend money for transportation and exert your time amd effort in travelling. And as a mom too, working at home is more convenient because I can take care of my child while doing some online jobs. You don't even need to exert your effort to dress up and look presentable because you're just staying at home (depends on the job that you're into though). So generally, I prefer working at home for it's convenience.

Everyone's Welcome

I never thought I would be working at home while I was in college, I never even thought I would enjoy it! But when I graduated and started working in a corporate world, I developed depression and anxiety. I'm not kidding when I say every time I go to work I feel like my heart is going to explode because of my anxiety. I have declined a job offering because one of their interview question was, "What is the thing you don't like the most in your co-employees?" when I told them, I don't like people who gossip a lot. They made fun of me and said that it's normal to have a gossip in an office, and even dropped a name. And one thing I learned it's normal to struggle but the struggle will only be worth it if you love what your doing. I love working at home, I'll never leave this place (or my house).

Obvious Choice

For me working at home takes priority over working at office. The main reason is that you work at your own pace and time. I have a wife and a kid and I like to spend time with them. Life is too short to be wasted in the office.

I have seen many office going people cancelling plans cause of time conflict. Sometimes they aren't even granted the leave that they are promised. You are literally hero to zero in an instant in a company once you retire or fired. The years of service is ridiculed and shown as if it's worthless to the firm.

I will once again emphasize my point that life is too short, you never know when you will die. Enjoy it to the fullest with your friends and family and this can only be achieved if you work at home at your own pace and time.

There are so many advantages to working at home that I never want to return to the outside world of offices and buildings again. Here I am choosing my own time, and working from the warmth of my bed. Working at home is much more easy and comfortable

Working at home is much more comfortable and convenient for me. In fact nowadays there is a growing trend amongst many working professionals to bring there work at home and complete it on there computers. The biggest advantage of working at home is that there is no fixed time of doing your work. You can do your work whenever you want. Most of us are very comfortable doing our work at home rather than doing it in the office. You are not disturbed while doing your work whenever you work from the comforts of our home. Most of the times there are no deadlines set by others. You don't have to prove anything to anyone when you work comfortably from your home. Overall you are much more relaxed and therefore very focused when you are working from your home.

Hassle-Free

I started working at home last August. I am now on my second month as a person who has successfully avoided the traffic in the city, the stressful "rush hours" of weekdays and the unhealthy exposure to pollution. There are a lot of benefits that it can give to people especially to those who have health problems and those who can't work outside because they are tending to their sick family members. As a person who experiences the latter one, and I am so thankful that jobs online exist.

Working at home is better

I think it is better to have your work at home and become a freelancer. Some may think you are jobless but it their opinions doesn't matter as long as you are happy and you create income enough to support your financial need and sometimes the money you earn from it is way more high than working in the office where you are often belittle and scolded. And the best thing on working at home is you manage you own time at the pace you wanted. You got to take care of your own family most especially if your a mother. Working and staying at home at the same time is a great feeling because you get to earn money while just staying comfy and warmly in your bed. The great benefits you get are not having a specific time to work or to get a job done (unless there is a deadline of course), traveling to your work place which would cost you especially if you live quite a distance from your work, and lastly is not worrying of working late or having problems with transportation on a busy day because you get to control the day by just simply planning out your work in your home. So for me, working at home is home sweet home to me.

Work at office
Working in the office is fun. You have a lot of your friends and you can talk to them when it's idle. You can have a bit of exercise since you have to travel to get to the office. You might want to run if you're about a minute late. You can have lunch together with your friends, and you have a social life.

Pros
  • You have your Supervisor or Support that can help you immediately if you have any issues with your work.
  • Your life is not lonely. You can have a cup of coffee with your work friends while on a break.
  • Easy to show off your good work ethic; the boss sees when you get to work

Cons
  • You can't just sleep in the office.
  • Rain or storm could be problem.
  • Daily traffic commute problems
  • Cost of work wardrobe

I choose the well paid option

I am retired now but worked outside the home all my life until then. The money I brought in there doesn't even compare with the small amounts I earn online because I don't have any special skills. Surprisingly...

I actually like working at the office more. I enjoy my job and my coworkers, and I believe that I am actually far more productive if I'm at the office instead. I do enjoy working from home on occasion, but I'll usually get distracted by a variety of things. My cat, my dog, video games, TV shows, among other things. Well, the prospect of working from home is very interesting because we all want to be our own boss and work at our own pace, answer to nobody buy ourselves but personally to me what matters most is the amount of money that I'm making at the end of a week or on monthly basis. I like working in an office environment compared to a home environment. I feel too comfortable at home and it is hard for me to motivate myself to do my work. Especially when I am not in the mood to work, it is too easy to skip work. Not what I imagine

Initially when I was asked this question. I'd always answer that working at home is better for various reason like, there will be no haste with the traffic and work based in our own homes are jobs that offers flexible time. Home based jobs also is free from any office drama some may tag as more stressful that the usual work itself. But for writers like me, I have found that yes, I may find the comfort of my room very satisfying when I'm inspired to stitch some words but it is also the actual reason why I procrastinate, because there is no pressure, yes, very unproductive.

Interacting with People

One thing I would like to add on the pros of working at the office is the interaction with people. Interacting with people is something everyone does everyday. If we lose touch with people, we become less sociable. Hence, not being able to function in society.

Work at office with a good leader and a good team.

I know this might sound contradicting as I am a freelancer. But office environment offers development of different set of skills which most likely take you a longer way if you start freelancing outright. Yet again, I am not generalizing. Not all companies have that suitable environment for growth for every employee. But if you are one of those who lucked out, to find a boss who is more of a leader, more of a teacher than a simple superior, then you better work at the office first. Of course I am not saying that you should stay forever (Stay only if your career growth can take you to a level where you can handle your finances well). But what I am saying is that, we must attend our classes even if the teacher is terror or the classroom seems horrible. Knowledge is the power that will leverage you, the very tool that you will use to achieve your dreams in life. And the workplace is a classroom with a lot of lessons waiting.

OFFICE!

I feel working in the office for me is more productive. I am an easily distracted person so working in a much comfortable and unsupervised environment can be a problem. I also like the feeling of formality if I work in an office. Yes, maybe it is easier to work at home because you can stop working anytime and just get back to work. You can also wear more confortable clothes. But in the offfice I feel that you can focus more at work because of more minimal distractions.

No distractions

If I have to be honest, I’ll say stay at the office. First, because you’ll be away from the distractions of the home, and the comforts of your home. In your home, you can always switch on your TV, go lie down, prep a meal, talk to relatives (if you’re living with other people), do a ton of other stuff. And second, because if that’s your own business, and you’re a CEO, business owners often tend to work almost 24/7! Sometimes you get so used to it, you can’t switch off. You’re overloading your brain without even knowing it. If you’re working in your office, going out of the office, locking it, and leaving your computer in your office at 5 PM, there is a clear indication to your brain “That’s enough for today and let’s call it a day!”.

That's true, I work online and sometimes I got distracted and instead of doing my work I watch Tv or surf on the internet. But I still love working at home because I hate dealing with bosses.

My experience with working from home is not that good. I have found out that people look at you with very bad looks. And they think you are jobless or something. And that means you have to setup office away from such people too. And often that means you have to spend some money and take things into more productive serious way. Some of the time working from office is often more social too.

Depends oh how you treat those mockers. If you really wanted to have a good and comfortable work and if you find it working at home like that, then don't bother talking with those people telling you negative things. They are not the one that gives you your salary.

I agree. But often I have seen the negativity going out of hand. Like they assume what this guy is doing all the time at home. must be drug addict or something lol. And often they keep the distance. It kind of feels bad that people have such perception. And it is kind of totally narrow minded and stereotypical. I hope to move to better society in future.

Yeah! that's how people think about us. Its sad to think that they don't appreciate those kind of jobs or they don't considered it as a job. Just ignore talking to them or better, give them a boast about your money you earn just to make them speechless.

Yes the best approach would be just to move on from them. And best possibly make new friends. but the people nearby would continue to have doubts on you. And that's what makes things a bit odd on that level. I had my share of issues with such people. I definitely don't want to waste my time on those people.

That's so narrow minded of people to think that. Most of the time people are jealous of the fact that I have the flexibility to work from home. I wonder if that's where some people's bad looks come from!

Yes but I can't do anything to change people. Most of them are from conservative mindset of job and all. Plus most of the people know that online earning is not going to be consistent. And that shows in how people deal with the others who work from home or work on the remote office way. I have seen that happening to many.

I began to work as a freelance writer when I was still in college. After completion of university program, I continued working as a freelancer. I have had those days too like they were thinking I made a mistake and all. but I am working harder to prove them wrong. The issue is that it's not easy being freelancer and you need to have good people around for the same. You can see that some of the time working from home is wrong for those set of the reason. That is what I have learned from my experience so far.

Some times people, even the members in my family, ask me to join a regular job. They cannot see me working 12-13 hours sometimes and sometimes not having any work for days. However, I can keep them mum because I earn as much as someone working on a regular job. Freelancing is gaining acceptance in the society.

I think only reason where I see the request for joining real job is for the socializing. Because people at workplace socialize even for few seconds. And that is what makes working for someone different. I have had my own share of the issues with the working home and outside. But I work on both sides so it is starting to work out in some scale.

It's sad to know your experience. Here where I live, people who work at home are more appreciated and are praised more by others because they have bigger salaries and comfortable jobs than the ones who have to go through so much trouble from commuting, budgeting and etc. I guess that's the reason why there's a rising number of people who work at home here than the ones who work at offices/work places.

I have decided to create the life that I want to live. I have had at least five jobs.I have worked for different bosses some good and some bad. I think I have done my share of working and I'm done. I have decided to be my own boss. Even If I decide that I have to work it will be at most for two years. I prefer to work at home. Off course it requires a lot of discipline but unfortunately friends that is what it takes to be your own boss. No body is coming to your rescue you only have you. The biggest advantage of working at home is not spending money on rent and having your own schedule.

I can totally understand that some people are not happy with the regular job. And it not only makes things harder for the regular life but also for the earning money mindset. In our society, having a 9-5 job in a reputed organization, especially public sector is highly regarded. My wife was told to think twice before deciding to get married with me. They said the guy does not even have a job. This is a harsh reality of our society.

Yes I can totally relate. I was working part time for one company and working with freelancing. And that is one reason nobody came out to marry me. And that is not at it. Yes work at home and the remote working does not earn regularly. You can see that work at office means you have to be disciplined. Something most of the office workers are good at. Definitely less stressful! I used to hate my daily commute when I worked in an office in the city - it added so much time to the day as well. Working from home means that I actually gain so much time as well by not having to commute, and it's hard to put a price on that!

Working at an office satisfies my competitive side but I am happier working at home where I am my own company's CEO. I don't think I can ever go back to working in an office on a full time basis, not now when my income as a freelancer has surpassed my earnings as an office worker. It is liberating to be able to work at my own time and in my house dress at that. I never have to worry about which dress to wear nor rush every morning to reach the office on time. Best of all, I can be with my son in the most important moments and milestones of his life. A portion of my house looks and feels like an office with the typical desk, equipment, telephone, and steel cabinet so I don't really miss the office environment. My neighbors no longer see me rushing off in the early morning in my corporate attire and one older lady can't contain her curiosity and had to ask me why. I don't think she understands what working online means but I don't really care because I'm happy with what I have achieved with my online work and offline business.

I think once you get a taste for working from home and find your groove with earnings and freelance options, it can be really hard to want to work in an office environment again. Like you I'm also a parent and I love being able to be present for all those important milestones as well.

It's nice that you've also got a dedicated office area set up, so it really is like you've got the best of both worlds, home and office!

Yeah, I don't think I can ever go back to being a corporate slave, most specially now when I can see so many online earning site or business opportunities. The challenge now is to create those opportunities for myself in the online world. I know that there is no security of tenure or consistency of income in freelancing but the solution is to create layers of online opportunities that one can use anytime. Hence, I have my layer 1 jobs, layer 2 jobs, and so on. The combination of those jobs ensure that I have money coming in when I need it.

Of course, we also need to take care of ourselves and ensure that we're keeping up with the skills that both online and offline working require. We can't create online opportunities for ourselves if we lack the skills.

I have to agree that some of the time we have to think from that angle too. We have to satisfy our competitive sides. And we have to focus on things that can be lot different on the note that we can make things a bit different on the note of the office and revenue. I believe that the answer will depend on your situation or characteristic. If you are introvert or have kids, working from home is great! I think work from home can be good if you get consistent work and also have good work routine. I have seen some of the time discipline can be a good place to start with. And often people build more credibility by going out of house than staying from the home. I guess depending on how the work is handled it may be different for all. Some people can do better from home and some requires going out.

If you think promotion is your main issue related to 9-5 job, what do you think about being promoted with work from home job. There is no such thing as promotion when you are working from home. I stared writing for $5 per 500 words, it has been more than 8 years, and I still have difficulty with finding writing jobs that pay me more than $5 per 500 words.

For me working at home is more convenient for me to save money and save time in traffic. You can't spend enough time for your family if you choose to work in office. What's important here is you learn from your work and earn an income. Although working office gives you position of rank but I just think how its more convenient to work at home. Save of time, save of money and you can do the things you want after you work. You have more time to build your self up. For example, you are an overweight, you have more time to exercise or go to gym.

If you can find work from home jobs that pays you as much as a regular job, that's fine, however, if you are struggling with finance, regular jobs are better substitute. I have been working from home since a decade. Yet I cannot manage my expenses through the money I generate from work form home. Unless, you are highly skilled, there is limited opportunities for working from home.

Work from home has many benefits such as you do not have to squander time traveling to your work place, you do not have to spend money on gas/cab fare . You also are your own boss. However, there is a drawback of working from home. You will not have any social interactions in the real life. You also do not have any financial security such as retirement plans etc.

Working at home has worked for me. I've been working at the office for years, then suddenly I began to try to do some work from home, and it has turned out great. Sometimes, I feel I would be more efficient at the office, because I pay attention to home chores, or get distracted for something at home, and I don't focus properly on the work. But, I can work since very early in the morning, and then use that extra time to do personal errands, without asking for days off at the office, or dealing with permits.

When you are working from home, distractions are a common problem. You get distracted by a lot of things. When you are working from home, you might be distracted by the chores that you need to do, the visitors that come to your house etc. If you are a moody kind of person and need the right mood to work, distractions can be a great disadvantage.

I love working at home because I'm more relaxed and I do have all the comforts in my home. Also working at home doesn't mean I cant go out and work in other places like in a restaurant or in a park or in a mall right? So basically working at home or outside the office, in other places takes boredom out of the equation.

For single and extrovert persons, working in the office is more suitable. Office is a great place to meet a lot of people. But for an introvert like me working from home is like heaven. I don't have to deal with people that I am not comfortable with. I can work in the comfort of my own home and I don't have to commute everyday which can make me more productive.

I agree with your point. One of the benefits of working in an office is social interaction. Since you interact with people from various backgrounds, you will also learn from people. Human beings are social animals and they need social interactions to remain sane. Going to work place every day also will give you some form of daily dose of exercise.

I guess it depends on the company as well. There are some companies with good ambiance while you're working and that is something that is really admirable in a company. They need to at least make the office a better place to work on. Also, if the workmates are nice, friendly and approachable then it would be nicer for us. But I know that the first consideration why most people would rather choose working at home over working at office is the flexibility of the time that they would work. The comfortableness of your own place is another main consideration for that.

You need money to manage your life, the main point is whether you can produce enough money by working from home. The first thing to consider is what kind of work you are doing from home. Is your job an online job or offline or both? How much money can you make by working x hours. Working from home is relaxing, gives you freedom etc. however, if your work is not producing enough money, it is not worth to consider.

You are right that there is almost no stress when you work at home. For me, the biggest factor that gives me stress is the transportation. I have my own car for going to my office which is just 15 kilometers away from home. But due to the terrible traffic on the main roads, I had to leave very early to avoid the congestion. When coming home, the traffic is also heavy. When I reach home in the late afternoon, I feel so tired.

It depends on the kind of work you do, if you are into customer service, surely you'll follow strict guidelines when it comes to time. But for people like say, bookkeepers, they don't have to stick to a particular schedule, as long as the tasks at hand for the day is carried out efficiently, it's okay.

Based on my experience, my employer offered me flexi-time when he realized that I could be trusted and guaranteed that I'll complete my work supervised or not.

having a skill does not gurantee you a good paying job in the virtual world. Let say, you are a programmar, in the real world, if you have good programing skills and also have some experience, you can easily get a job that pays 3-4 thousands USD every month. However, it is difficult to make that much in the virtual world because most of the people are not willing to pay high. If you check sites like fiverr, you will see people willing to design an ecommerce site just for $100. In the real world, if you can design an ecommerce site you will earn at least 400-500 for the job.

I think the answer would probably depend on your level of discipline. A lot of people dream about the notion of working from home, but the fact is that it isn’t as easy as they might think. When you have a regular job, you actually have to turn up there, day after day, or else you’re going to get the boot. On the other hand, if you’re working from home as a freelancer, there isn’t really any pressure on you to get your work done—well except the idea of going homeless and starving. It takes a lot of personal discipline to get working sometimes, but if you have that discipline, working from home is easily the better option.

yes, which one is better depends on your level of discipline. There are also other important factors to consider, for instance your skills. Having done both, I still like the office because you can be more focused and when there are meetings it's easier for people to find you rather then meet at home or somewhere nearby. There are pros and cons to both, and home is good when the weather is bad, or if you need to get something finished without any distractions. The worst things was phones in the office and answering them and then going through the messages or redirecting the call.

Also with the office it's more social, but equally you need to buy or bring lunch so it can get expensive whereas at home you can eat when you want to.
