Work at home

Work at home
Working at home is great! You can work anytime you want without having problems due to heavy traffic or weather. You can just get up to your bed, open your computer and start your work. It's also more convenient since you can save more money with your food, you don't need to travel or pay fare on a taxi.

Pros
  • Save time, money and energy.
  • Be available at home for your children and family
  • Take breaks when you want
  • Take sick leave/vacation when you want

Cons
  • There are a lot of distraction and temptation.
  • There's also no health insurance.
  • It's lonely working without your friends physically.
  • Less chance for promotion
  • Boss doesn't see your hard work

Way Betterq

In my opinion, work at home is a lot way better than working in the office. I used to work in the office for more than a decade and I truly experienced how hard it was. Though there are too many cons most specifically that the promotion is too slow and the boss won't see how hard you work, but the fact that you won't be needing to commute for almost four hours is indeed priceless. It saves time, effort and money.

I also made the switch and I can admit that freedom when working from home is ten times that of being manned by a Boss. I also think that one should be careful to use their time well when working from home to enhance productivity.
NesMarcos
I would have to agree that one should be very cautious in the productivity rate when you work from home since there have been lot of temptation and distractions. Work from home can monitor if one is highly productive or just a lousy one.

WAH!

I would much rather work at home because you save a lot of money in gas, save miles on your car, you can work privately, and it just feels more comfortable. I can not imagine why anyone would want to leave their house, go to the office and clock-in to start their work. At home all you have to do is get out of bed, and turn on your laptop/computer to get your work started.

A few more pros:

  • No office drama (sometimes there is a lot of drama in the workplace, and this won't be so if you were to work at home)
  • Private bathroom (i do not like to use public restroom as i beleive they are disgusting)
  • Lunch when you want (a lot of work places set your break times, and lunch times. at home you can take breaks whenever you want)
  • Parenting/Daycare (if you're a parent, you don't need to pay for daycare)
There is a whole list i could do, but these are basics! So work at home gets my vote, and always will!!

You may find yourself becoming obesity by overeating. At the office one eats at specified times.
Mehano

Flexible

I can see the advantages of working from the office but still, I think that the majority will pick working at home. It's wayyy more comfortable and flexible. You can work on your own terms and in conditions you want to. I think it's less stressful so you can even be more productive.

I'd love to be able to work from home fulltime. As long as you can organize yourself you are good to go!

Working from home also gives one the opportunity of doing various things non_work related without stress at any time. You just need to have a proper time management plan.

Work From Home

Working at home was not my choice. It resulted when my survival instincts kicked in. But now that I do work at home, I don't see any reason to work in an office any more. I don't need physical social interaction. I get that from social media. I can work with others online just as easily as I did in the office.

What I really like is that I don't have to get up and go anywhere to get to work. No matter the weather I can get started with the job, as long as I have Internet access and no technical difficulties with my laptop. What I really like is the flexibility of being able to accommodate personal and family needs. After all your family is your priority. My work schedule can be easily adjusted to handle family matters.

I don't wish that I had started working from home earlier in my life however. It was the knowledge, skills, and abilities that I acquired while working in an office environment that gave me what I needed to be able to learn what I needed to learn and to supervise myself.

The best thing of all about working from home? I don't need references to HIRE ME and I won't FIRE ME! :)

I used to work in an office some time ago and the social interactions you cite there are sometimes a huge cause for poor productivity. There are people who keep gossiping at the office leading to laziness of each coworker.

no time wasted

I hate having to travel and waste my time in the car. Maybe if I worked somewhere close and there was no traffic I'd pick working a more traditional way but that's not always the case and most of the time I would have to sit through a lot of travel time and doing that everyday just feels too much like a waste so I'd prefer to just work at home where I could at least spend that time on leisure and relaxation instead.

Are you even serious. I wish that was my life. For me each time I go out of home is an opportunity for exploration and discovery. I love travelling but since it is not the nature of my job I have to schedule for it.

Flexibility.

One thing that I have come to notice about working from home is that it is going to give you the type of flexibility that you won't get easily from preparing everyday to go to the office. I have realized that it is always very easy for us to make things work when we work from home than what we see when we are looking at getting set and going to the office on a daily basis.

Also working from home can enhance your time management and accountability. Since you are aware that you are only answerable to yourself you enaure that you do things which are beneficial on the long term.

Saves time

There are a lot of benefits when we work at home. We tend to become more efficient and be productive at the same time. Instead of spending much time in commuting going to work, at home we can spend wasted time to work or we can spend such time with our family instead. I am comfortable when working at home. I can actually listen to music while working or at least unwind from time to time. This is very different from what I actually do in office wherein we are not allowed to eat, listen to music during office hours.

Convenient

I would actually 100% choose work at home over work at office. You can save your transportation budget, and you won't get stress by traffic because in my country. You will get stress already on your way going to your office because of the traffic and other hindrances in the road. Unlike if you are working at home, you won't think of getting late again or even stuck on a heavy traffic. Plus, you can work anytime as long as you can finish it on time with high quality.

Convenient and you can work in your PJ's!

I work from home right now, and I really do enjoy it. Sure, sometimes I do miss having co-workers beside me to chat to, but there's something about being able to set my own hours, work when it's convenient for me, work in comfortable attire (sweatpants, pajamas if I really want!) and not having to battle a long commute that makes it all worth it!

Comfortable

Well let's face it working at an office environment isn't always your cup of tea. Working at home is a much comfortable, safer and secure one rather than in an office environment. It would also save more money because the money you use for commuting or for gas would not be need, you can just save it, that is why I prefer working at a home based job rather than an office based job.

Less hasle

Working at home are the best as long as your earning is same with working full time at a company. Working at home save you time to travel going to a certain place. You own your time, you can rest anytime you want unlike working at the office, you can only take a break if it is already break time.

Work at Home

I have been working in the corporate world for already 12 years. Now that I have kids, I am transitioning from working at an office to our home. I find homebase jobs practical for mothers like me. I can spend more time with my kids. I do not have to struggle with traffic and toxic workmates. I can work at my own phase. I wish have done this earlier.

Home is better.

Working at home is better than working outside. Mainly because I can save in different aspects such as money, time and effort. When working at home, you don't need to spend money for transportation and exert your time amd effort in travelling. And as a mom too, working at home is more convenient because I can take care of my child while doing some online jobs. You don't even need to exert your effort to dress up and look presentable because you're just staying at home (depends on the job that you're into though). So generally, I prefer working at home for it's convenience.

We can do more if we are in our comfort zone which is our house that's why we can definitely do better things. We can also improve our time managing skills if we work in home because we need to divide the time we have in our children, family, house chores, friends and also your chosen work. We will develop independecy quite well in this kind of work because we have no other workmates to rely with.

Everyone's Welcome

I never thought I would be working at home while I was in college, I never even thought I would enjoy it! But when I graduated and started working in a corporate world, I developed depression and anxiety. I'm not kidding when I say every time I go to work I feel like my heart is going to explode because of my anxiety. I have declined a job offering because one of their interview question was, "What is the thing you don't like the most in your co-employees?" when I told them, I don't like people who gossip a lot. They made fun of me and said that it's normal to have a gossip in an office, and even dropped a name. And one thing I learned it's normal to struggle but the struggle will only be worth it if you love what your doing. I love working at home, I'll never leave this place (or my house).

Work at office

Work at office
Working in the office is fun. You have a lot of your friends and you can talk to them when it's idle. You can have a bit of exercise since you have to travel to get to the office. You might want to run if you're about a minute late. You can have lunch together with your friends, and you have a social life.

Pros
  • You have your Supervisor or Support that can help you immediately if you have any issues with your work.
  • Your life is not lonely. You can have a cup of coffee with your work friends while on a break.
  • Easy to show off your good work ethic; the boss sees when you get to work

Cons
  • You can't just sleep in the office.
  • Rain or storm could be problem.
  • Daily traffic commute problems
  • Cost of work wardrobe

I choose the well paid option

I am retired now but worked outside the home all my life until then. The money I brought in there doesn't even compare with the small amounts I earn online because I don't have any special skills. However small amounts add up so I guess for those with no other options, or those with the skills to do well it is worthwhile.

Discipline

Working at home has lot of issues. So working from office puts you in a working mode. And you end up doing things lot better. And it can improve the productivity. You can see that some of the time working in home is good if you are sick or so. But overall I'd say working in office is a good option.

The number of zeros decides

Well, the prospect of working from home is very interesting because we all want to be our own boss and work at our own pace, answer to nobody buy ourselves but personally to me what matters most is the amount of money that I'm making at the end of a week or on monthly basis. If working at home would give me better returns than working at the office, I would choose it in a heartbeat but if not, then I would prefer working at the office.

Office Environment

I like working in an office environment compared to a home environment. I feel too comfortable at home and it is hard for me to motivate myself to do my work. Especially when I am not in the mood to work, it is too easy to skip work. If you are in a corporate environment, it would be a different feel because you have workmates that you can interact with directly.

Interacting with People

One thing I would like to add on the pros of working at the office is the interaction with people. Interacting with people is something everyone does everyday. If we lose touch with people, we become less sociable. Hence, not being able to function in society.

My experience with working from home is not that good. I have found out that people look at you with very bad looks. And they think you are jobless or something. And that means you have to setup office away from such people too. And often that means you have to spend some money and take things into more productive serious way. Some of the time working from office is often more social too.

I agree. But often I have seen the negativity going out of hand. Like they assume what this guy is doing all the time at home. must be drug addict or something lol. And often they keep the distance. It kind of feels bad that people have such perception. And it is kind of totally narrow minded and stereotypical. I hope to move to better society in future.

Yes but I can't do anything to change people. Most of them are from conservative mindset of job and all. Plus most of the people know that online earning is not going to be consistent. And that shows in how people deal with the others who work from home or work on the remote office way. I have seen that happening to many.

Working at an office satisfies my competitive side but I am happier working at home where I am my own company's CEO. I don't think I can ever go back to working in an office on a full time basis, not now when my income as a freelancer has surpassed my earnings as an office worker. It is liberating to be able to work at my own time and in my house dress at that. I never have to worry about which dress to wear nor rush every morning to reach the office on time. Best of all, I can be with my son in the most important moments and milestones of his life. A portion of my house looks and feels like an office with the typical desk, equipment, telephone, and steel cabinet so I don't really miss the office environment. My neighbors no longer see me rushing off in the early morning in my corporate attire and one older lady can't contain her curiosity and had to ask me why. I don't think she understands what working online means but I don't really care because I'm happy with what I have achieved with my online work and offline business.

I have to agree that some of the time we have to think from that angle too. We have to satisfy our competitive sides. Distractions is one of the problems with working at home. Since you are at home all day long many people consider that you are free and they will always come to disturb you. For mothers who have small kids, it is really difficult to manage the home life and office work. In this situation, work from home gives a leverage. I believe that the answer will depend on your situation or characteristic. If you are introvert or have kids, working from home is great! If I was working at an office and one of them was sick, I'd have to try and get to their school or day care to pick them up. Being at home but being able to work offers me the best of both worlds and I'm very grateful that I can work from home rather than be bound to an office.

Seriously, I don't have any problems working either from home or at the office as long as I'm making and meeting my target with making money, I'm good with either options. Hell, I'm working on both fronts at the moment because my schedule affords me the opportunity to do so, why say no to earning from both fronts when it's possible?

Well, the truth still remains that not everyone can grab both fronts even if it were possible like the home makers.I think even taking care of the home is already a full time job let alone adding both office and online jobs.it will overload so to speak.

That's true. What ultimately matters is whether you are earning well or not. There are advantages as well as disadvantages for both kind of work, working in an office or working from home. Most of the people say you are the boss when you are working from home, which is not true. You still have t listen to your clients and work according to their instruction, which can be very bothersome.

For me working at home gives me a lot of comfort and relaxation even when I am working. It is the most special factor for me. Working with lesser stress will be a good thing to do. And that what working at home can gives me.

It's true that we all have the freedom and work liberty with working from home but it's also very important to remember the distraction and lack of focus that comes with working at home. It can only be better if you are living alone, still single and have less responsibility to take care of, then working at home would be the best option.

By what you said I got the idea that you are right. You give me the truth that in working at home we are prone of distractions. And especially there are no boss to look at us we may idle and don't do at work.

Before i need to set my time because I needed to travel far from home and the traffic are so hassle. Specially if the weather are not good too but you need to go to office because its a private company and we don't have a choice but to travel due office orders. And its really hard if you are a parent like if the kids are sick, you don't have a choice but to leave them with their nanny and you can't stay and absent because you still have shift for that day. I'm very glad that I can work now at home, I have my own schedule to finished my job and I can be with my kids everyday. That's the best thing for me is to be with my kids every single day while earning even when I'm home.

Working at home I think has a lot of benefits compared to working in an office. You can save your time and you don't need to wake up early to go to work. The only problem is, sometimes it's boring, you will miss traveling somehow, and your friends in the office, but well, I can deal with that.

I think that the number of responsibilities one takes care of have a good influence on one's decision on either working at home or working at the office, and the amount earned on either fronts have a huge to say.

I sometimes find it hard to work at home especially if my two kids are with me. I would need to stand up and do other things instead of just focusing on work. But the advantages still outweighs the disadvantages. Working from home saves me time and effort to prepare and travel to work. I can sit or even lay down while doing work at home. The best advantage is I can be with my family anytime and anywhere they need me to be as long as I have an Internet connection where I can connect my laptop and do the job.

Yes I have same problem. Working with the family members means one is going to be having their own shares of the issues. I have seen some people to be having their own obligations on work and working from home means they seem to be having issues with opinion there. I am not sure how this sort of problem can be solved. I hope to see one day people can deal with this.

I ask this question to my girlfriend and she said that she prefers to work at office. Her reason is that for her to have companion. She is that type, a very socializing person.

A good point is noted. Having said that if you are a sociable person, then free lancing is not the ideal job for you. No work mates, no bosses looking after you, no supervisors work closely to you. Enjoying the benefits like these are great but if having work mates can drive your passion towards work, then, free lancing is not the one.

I would choose a regular job because in the regular job you have your stable income and also you can earn a lot more on your regular job than on working freelancer online.

A good point is noted. Having a stable job means having a stable income. It is indeed a safer approach in life. Meanwhile, freelancing jobs are offering a higher pay while enjoying the comfort of your home. I would have to agree that if you are looking for a stable job, free lancing is not the right one for you.

I think work from home can be good if you get consistent work and also have good work routine. I have seen some of the time discipline can be a good place to start with. And often people build more credibility by going out of house than staying from the home. I guess depending on how the work is handled it may be different for all. Some people can do better from home and some requires going out.

For me working at home is more convenient for me to save money and save time in traffic. You can't spend enough time for your family if you choose to work in office. What's important here is you learn from your work and earn an income. Although working office gives you position of rank but I just think how its more convenient to work at home. Save of time, save of money and you can do the things you want after you work. You have more time to build your self up. For example, you are an overweight, you have more time to exercise or go to gym.

Working in you home have its advantages. An employee can save on gas or fair since he will not be traveling to and fro from work. The comfort of your home helps you be relax compare to and a workstation that can be very stressful. Also, you can decide your working time and be flexible.

Flexibility is one big advantage of working at home. That is the main reason why a lot of people love such nature of work. And follow that by the saving of paying for gas for traveling. That seems to be the answer of all the people that voted for that. I agree with them.

Working at home has worked for me. I've been working at the office for years, then suddenly I began to try to do some work from home, and it has turned out great. Sometimes, I feel I would be more efficient at the office, because I pay attention to home chores, or get distracted for something at home, and I don't focus properly on the work. But, I can work since very early in the morning, and then use that extra time to do personal errands, without asking for days off at the office, or dealing with permits.

I love working at home because I'm more relaxed and I do have all the comforts in my home. Also working at home doesn't mean I cant go out and work in other places like in a restaurant or in a park or in a mall right? So basically working at home or outside the office, in other places takes boredom out of the equation.

For single and extrovert persons, working in the office is more suitable. Office is a great place to meet a lot of people. But for an introvert like me working from home is like heaven. I don't have to deal with people that I am not comfortable with. I can work in the comfort of my own home and I don't have to commute everyday which can make me more productive.

I guess it depends on the company as well. There are some companies with good ambiance while you're working and that is something that is really admirable in a company. They need to at least make the office a better place to work on. Also, if the workmates are nice, friendly and approachable then it would be nicer for us. But I know that the first consideration why most people would rather choose working at home over working at office is the flexibility of the time that they would work. The comfortableness of your own place is another main consideration for that.

I'm currently working in an office and I love working with my friends but I consider working at home if I'll be given an opportunity. It can save me more money and it's more productive. It usually depends on the person if he wants to work with many people or prefer a quite place.

I've been working at home for a year now since I took a medical break from my 8-5 work and I feel rested and happy working at home. There's almost no stress and i can do my freelance online work whenever I want. Also I can do my work elsewhere like in a coffee shop or in a restaurant even inside the mall. I never felt happier working with such freedom.

You are right that there is almost no stress when you work at home. For me, the biggest factor that gives me stress is the transportation. I have my own car for going to my office which is just 15 kilometers away from home. But due to the terrible traffic on the main roads, I had to leave very early to avoid the congestion. When coming home, the traffic is also heavy. When I reach home in the late afternoon, I feel so tired.

The good thing about working from home is that you can choose the time that you want to work. It does not matter what time you should start, what important for the clients is that you will be able to meet the deadlines. You can help also help with some household chores or do a grocery shopping anytime and go start to work again.
