Yahoo Mail

Yahoo Mail
Yahoo mail was launched around the year 1995. Over the years, it has undergone several modifications. It now offers options such as a choice of colorful theme screens, emojis, layout preferences, apps, etc., which is the minimum standard for most of the email services providers. The Yahoo mailbox relies on partners such as Verizon, Rogers, BT, AT&T (including Ameritech, SBC, and BellSouth), Nokia, TNZ, and ExtraNZ who utilize this service for offering an email service to their clients. Each of these partners again has gateways for filtering, after which Yahoo filters the emails. This means, the emails that eventually reach the user would have been filtered twice. Even so, Yahoo Mail is still vulnerable to attacks by hackers. Yahoo is a tad faster than Gmail. But it also lets ads disturb the user unless they are blocked through browsers. Yahoo also has a rather primitive verification procedure.

a. It comes with instant messenger; b. It offers a large storage, i.e., 1TB, c. There are other Yahoo services interlinked such as answers, customer service, and search. It is possible to chat through text and video or voice. d. It is simple for navigation. e. It has spam controlling features

a. It has fewer apps, products and services. b. The “compose” feature is primitive unlike Gmail which allows users to have smaller window on the larger window wherein one of the emails could be opened or a list of contents in the inbox could be displayed. This feature of Gmail really helps when the person has to answer to specific questions raised in some mail. c. Verification and security are a bit primitive

My very first email

I've been using yahoo mail since high school. It's my very first email and I'm still using it to go this day. If I remember correctly, I opened a yahoo mail account way back in 2001. And that email is still my primary email up to this day.

Yes, Gmail is a lot simpler, and has a cleaner interface, but yahoo mail isn't that bad. It gets the job done. I haven't encountered any problems with yahoo mail. It's actually very dependable. I still prefer it over Gmail.

Yahoo was my first email too! My dad my email up for me when I was in gradeschool, probably in the late 90's, and it seemed like the "big thing" at the time. Interesting how times change. You're right though, Yahoo gets the job done, and if someone is comfortable with an email platform that does what it's supposed to do, then it may be the one for you!

To be honest I do enjoy yahoo mail. I have tried gmail and hotmail but my preference is yahoo. It is as if yahoo is the mother of all email providers.

There is one feature that I do not Luke in yahoo. I know it is a security precaution but I do not like it. It requires me to verify with my phone or my gmail account. I find this very humiliating and time consuming.

Yahoo Mail

I vote for yahoo mail. This is the first email i have done. There are many messages in my yahoo account.

Gmail is easier to use compared to yahoo, however yahoo has more fun feature compared to gmail. Yahoo is my first mail account, I get really excited every time someone mails me with something, and it has colorful background that and some cute emoji.

I believe Google is the leading company now when it comes to search engines and email providers. I also have an account with Google but I use yahoo mail more often. Yahoo mail is my primary email. That's what I use almost in every transactions and businesses that I have. And I'm used to it.

Gmail was launched in 1998 but has added several new technologies to its services. It has several apps, services, and products that it has added to its portfolio. It is now connected even to the handsets and SMS alerts that can be issued through Gmail. Users can chat through voice, video, or text. There can be priority boxes and alerts in respect of attachments that are forgotten, based on the text in the email. Likewise, spams are identified from the contents in the email and their usage. There are plenty of keyboard shortcuts too. The verification procedure is highly sophisticated making it difficult for people to hack into it, but it is still not entirely free from hacking. It has managed to come up with a smaller window for composing an e-mail, allowing for the simultaneous display of the inbox or sent box content, or opening another e-mail, and then composing based on the content.

a. Sophisticated email service with plenty of features, add ons, services, apps, and products, accessible to it, on different devices. b. There are SMS alerts sent when connected. c. It facilitates attaching larger files or attachments. d. It has a superior verification procedure as well as a spam control procedure when compared to Yahoo Mail. e. It also comes with ad serving service, but they are quite discreet. f. The compose feature wherein people can use a smaller window to reply to content in another mail is very useful.

a. The storage size is less than Yahoo Mail. b. The speed is lower than Yahoo Mail.

This was an extremely easy decision for me really, it had to be Gmail. It's been great for me and I will continue to use it for as long as it exists. The fact that it makes everything so easy and has a great interface makes it amazing. Plus I have to say, the mobile app that they created for Gmail is great as well. Makes reading and checking your emails on the go so easy

It's Pretty Much Ubiquitous

Google has a hold of a lot of applications online, which is really why I prefer Gmail. Yahoo was my first email ever, but I like that my Google account reaches across the various platforms online. My account can migrate from email to YouTube to Google+ to Google Drive, etc. It's really convenient for me that it's all so well integrated.

The best

Gmail without a doubt. I have been using it for many years now and I can assure you that it's the best email service that you can find.

It even offers you so much space for free, no additional cost. It has no bugs, great support, functionality and integration even on mobile phones and more.

Just another great platform by Google.

I have had nothing but problems with yahoo so gmail is my go to default. I think it is the best because it ties in directly with google so I find it to be one of the ways that I can get my work down easily.
Posted by kgord on 02-20-2018

I'd prefer this because they have it properly sorted out. They offer mail for free. And not much issues with the way they handle spam. In case of Yahoo they don't offer feature like Gmail. So there is very less you can learn from as well. I have found that if you want automation the gmail has it in many small features.

I'm a gmail girl.

I don't need excessive storage, so Gmail is perfect for me. Practical, linked with more accounts, apps and websites than Yahoo ever will, less buggy and more universally loved, for me Gmail is perfect.
Posted by VintageRose on 02-18-2018

I've grown too used to Gmail to switch back to Yahoo or most any other email service for that matter. At this point I think Gmail has perfected the design and features and now all other mail services are just trying to keep up. I also like using it because I use it in conjunction with other Google apps and services which makes it easier for me to manage and keep up with alerts on those. I do still like having the others as an option though.

Security or Data Breach? Choose! (O.o)

There is no comparison. My first experience with eMail was Hotmail and AOL LOL. Next, it was Gmail and YAHOO. I can't remember which one I opened first. But I use my Gmail way more than I use my YAHOO mail. The only reason I have a YAHOO is because an account was required when I set up my Tumblr account. At that time the owners wanted the YAHOO mail and the Tumblr accounts linked. (O.o)

Also, I think Gmail has better security. I say that because one time I was at a foreign computer (a public computer that I don't usually sign in to my account with) and Google wouldn't let me access my mail from that computer. I was perfectly fine with that security measure.

The latest news about YAHOO was that they may be facing punitive damages over data breaches. YIKES!

No spam, great interface, fast, and reliable, gmail is just the best emailing platform out there.
Posted by treecko142 on 02-19-2018

Gmail is far better than Yahoo.

In Gmail, there's a 5 gb free storage for your files so You will be able to send big files there while Yahoo, you still have to sign up for dropbox before you can send files because the maximum files you can send is only 25 mb. Although I'm still using yahoo since there are important emails I have there but to choose between the two , I would pick Gmail.
Posted by nekonieden on 10-04-2018

I prefer gmail since it is part of Google and it is much reliable than yahoo. There are a lot of issues occurred in Yahoo before, but I know they're trying their best to improve their system but I would still prefer gmail for data security.

Faster and Secure

Gmail is made by Google and almost all of their website and apps are fast and minimalist. The simple design in their apps could be the main contributor to their apps and sites' robustness. Yahoo Mail is almost always in the news when an email company gets hacked. Google, on the other hand, prioritizes security.
Posted by EfficientNinja on 10-15-2018

Gmail does everything

Gmail is the email address that moves with the times. To me, Yahoo feels dated and it doesn't boast the same range of features that come with Gmail. I also love the other Google products like Google Docs, which is incredibly helpful from a business/freelance perspective.
Posted by amelia88 on 08-01-2018

Very User-Friendly

This choice was an easy one for me because I've used both and I can say that GMail is much more user friendly compared to YahooMail. YM or YahooMail is actually the first one I've used because it's the most popular mailing website 10 years ago. However, after a while GMail became much more popular and maybe because of Google, I was interested to try it and then found out that it's more user friendly and convenient and so I decided to just use it instead of YM. Also, I use Google Mail for all websites made by Google like YouTube and etc. because one Google account could be used to anything made by Google and I find it very convenient.
Posted by jaybee19 on 10-24-2018

Gmail is better.

Gmail is mainly about e-mails. Simple. It looks simpler than Yahoo. I don't like advertisements inside Yahoo mail interface because it's distracting. I don't need a menu bar with news topics at the top of my email service because I can do that elsewhere. Gmail categorized emails into three: Primary, Social, and Promotions. Anyone can understand the basics of Gmail because it is so simple.
Posted by mimacheeks on 07-25-2018

I choose Gmail because it is more convenient to use. Have you ever tried to compare the two when opening them, Gmail is more faster to respond because their server are more faster than yahoo.mail. And I find Gmail to be more user friendly.
Posted by blackmist on 08-09-2018

Google took over Yahoo

Gmail for me because everyone's using it. Sure I've had a Yahoo account before but now it's known as the email address you use for fake/troll accounts on the web. Better stick to gmail to avoid that misconception.
Posted by rlpzbeermoney on 10-06-2018

I think that Gmail has to be my preference when compared to yahoo mail. Actually, my first email account was on yahoo mail but when I registered for a Gmail account I slowly stopped using the yahoo mail. Gmail is much more convenient and easy to use than Yahoo mail. in fact, there is no competition between the two. gmail is much ahead of Yahoo in all aspects.
Posted by jpk0007 on 10-31-2018

Everything In One

Gmail is not just a simple email domain, Yahoo is losing the race and fast. The Yahoo hare slept a long time ago and has not woken up since, the Google tortoise just kept going and going and is practically sprinting today.

I vote for Gmail. This is what I am using here in this site. I thank God for this account.
Posted by menchuuy58 on 11-08-2018

Gmail and Yahoo mail are both excellent when it comes to there services. I have both Gmail and Yahoo mail accounts but if I would choose one of this two I would go with Gmail I prefer Gmail because of a lot of apps right now are associated with Google.
Posted by antonToledo on 12-16-2018

I definitely prefer Gmail. I've used Gmail since 2007 and I think this is the best free email service on the internet.
Posted by hermessantos on 02-16-2018
I used to have Yahoo email too but my hubby asked me to change to gmail because gmail could accept bigger size image file and safer with security options.
Posted by peachpurple on 02-17-2018
I shifted from Hotmail to Yahoo because of the storage issues. Hotmail has little storage that I needed to delete some emails so the new ones can come into the inbox. But Yahoo has also a limited storage space at that time but bigger than Hotmail’s free storage. FYI the storage capacity of Yahoo now is unlimited that all my emails are all there in the folders because I don’t delete any emails anymore.
Posted by Corzhens on 12-14-2018
I'm still loyal to yahoo mail. It's easy to use. I've been using this yahoo mail since college, and never encounter any problem. They keep upgrading to make it easier to access your mail, and aside from that. I like the color, purple.
Posted by ion on 02-17-2018
I vote Gmail any-day. I remember using Yahoo especially in the old days. It's a very inefficient mail service. I remember sending attachments and they used to take hours to attach and for the message to be send. These days Yahoo mail is better because very few people use them. Gmail is the best and has always been the best. Emails are faster to send, it's easy to send an attachment and if it's too big you can always use Google Drive. The best Email service is Gmail.
Posted by jaymish on 02-18-2018
Well i would have supported Google and gmail but then I look at yahoo and the way they were one of the top companies in the world. Being one of the pioneers of email tech. They just didn't cope up with the revolution. They could have done better if google didn't existed. But then everything has a reason and yahoo would always be the pioneer in emailing. Although not the best now.
Posted by muaaz.93 on 02-18-2018
My first email was hotmail but after 2 years, I shifted to Yahoo because it has a larger inbox storage so I don’t need to delete emails every time. And in the years to come, Yahoo was able to provide unlimited inbox storage so now I don’t delete any emails anymore. That means my emails 10 years ago are still in my inbox, I just have to search for it. I have created an account in Gmail but I am not comfortable so I am sticking to my email accounts in Yahoo.
Posted by Corzhens on 02-18-2018
I have the two email account but Gmail from Google is a lot better,it very fast and easy to operate than yahoo.Gmail is more popular and looks more professional than Yahoo and Yahoo is at times annoying with your inconsistency, after changing features that are not even needed to something not even better.Gmail is better from my own assessment.
Posted by lovely on 02-19-2018
I created my first email account on Yahoo and the only problem that I used to have with yahoo mail is that it used to take so much time to load. I started using Gmail only in the late 2000s and I regretted the fact that I did not create a Gmail account earlier on. Gmail is definitely better. It loads faster and it is easier to use compared to yahoo mail. Moreover, there are many services that are provided by Google aside from Gmail and I make use of many of them.
Posted by Pixie on 02-19-2018
i was never comfortable with Gmail, then and now. I've stuck with my yahoo mail account as my main email although I have my gmail account on the side which I only use to access Google's features. What I really like about keeping my yahoo mail is that it can be a standalone email that I never have to access for anything else that I want to do. Yahoo mail provides just what I need for an email service and it is getting better over the years. I just don't use it for the more confidential stuff. On the the hand, since Google is a huge company with a lot of stake in the information game, I don't feel as safe with it as I am with yahoo mail.
Posted by chatbox on 02-19-2018
Gmail is a much better email account because it is faster than Yahoo and has bigger storage. I actually have an account with Gmail and an account with Yahoo as well. Both are as good as each other but Gmail comes out slightly on top due to the storage and quickness of its service.
Posted by JMS on 02-20-2018
My first email client was hotmail. I began using yahoo mail when I found that yahoo mail was giving more storage. Then I discovered gmail. Currently, I use gmail and outlook mail. I use gmail more than outlook mail. I use outmail for financial emails.
Posted by vinaya on 02-21-2018
There is no denying the fact that yahoo mail used to be ahead when you talk of the mail service that will deliver the best for you, but at the moment, I will have to give it to gmail in the sense that they've got the best user interface for any user to be able to enjoy the mailing service to their satisfaction. Another thing that I've come to realize as well is that you can easily recover your Gmail account, if things goes wrong unliike what we have with Gmail account. So, I'm sticking with Gmail and hope they continue to deliver the best mailing services.
Posted by Barida on 02-25-2018
Glad to see comparison like this for something that is necessary for everyone's life today. I am personally using Yahoo mail. That is my first ever email provider but it got hack like a year or a couple of years ago. So then I tried out gmail and realize that I am comfortable using it that yahoo service for one reason and that is because of all the sub apps it offer plus android phones requires its users to have a gmail account so definitely gmail is much dominant than its competitor but over all I think still gmail still wins the battle.
Posted by gavinci13 on 03-09-2018
Gmail and Yahoo Mail both are good. But these days Yahoo mail seems to be having issues. Lot of people are getting their account under infinite loop for captcha. So it's kind of getting harder to use the mail. So Gmail on the other hand seems to be lot better. And they have things properly sorted out. I'd say on that basis, It's better to use them.
Posted by overcast on 04-14-2018
The issue with Yahoo is the sale to a new owner. But I remain a loyal user of Yahoo mail because it is the most comfortable for me. I also have a Gmail account although it is only for backup just in case Yahoo will close shop. Yahoo now is looking good and I guess it is still growing. In fact, I received yesterday a notice from Yahoo to review the new terms and conditions since it is now under Oath, a new corporation that is a merger of Yahoo and AOL.
Posted by Corzhens on 04-21-2018
For me I am still using the yahoo mail as my email address to send emails to other people while sometimes I also used the gmail as an alternative whenever some of my online sites requires me to have a gmail account. I honestly love them both because they have their own unique features that makes hem great and especial. For using these two sites for a long time already, so far I don't experience any problems before that is why I am glad that these two sites are still working and competing with each other
Posted by junrose123 on 04-23-2018
Well, I'm still using Yahoo mail, but I also have gmail. One thing I really like about gmail is how they handle the spam messages compare to yahoo. Spam messages is my only problem about yahoo, and I think they don't do anything to fix this problem. Google also supported different kind of mails compare to yahoo, but I'm still loyal to yahoo, my very first email.
Posted by ion on 04-29-2018
Honestly, I started using Yahoo, because my friends were using the Yahoo messenger, and we had a lot of fun through it. But, eventually it just turned out boring, and I decided to keep the email because I wanted to have a secondary one. I also have Gmail and at least for me, is faster than Yahoo, and it doesn't have a lot of visual features that may seem distracting to me. Sure doesn't have the same capacity, but I rather choose Gmail over Yahoo.
Posted by ballyhara on 06-21-2018
Gmail is a better mailbox than Yahoo because of its features which help to make the mailbox vibrant. Yahoo is kind of boring and old fashioned and people dont readily want to use like gmail.yes gmail is a lot easier to use.
Posted by lovely on 08-16-2018
I prefer using Gmail because it is very easy to use. I think it is much faster than the Yahoo mail. I picked Gmail because it is the e-mail that I am currently using.
Posted by bienn05 on 07-10-2018
It is my trust that makes me want to stick with GMAIL. I don't want to judge Yahoo but we all know the struggles and issues that they have encountered especially in making their system reliable and data secured. Nevertheless, I have been using GMAIL for too long now and I like their service to secure their system in order to protect their users' data and information.
Posted by mitan143 on 07-17-2018
Today it would be Gmail that is very popular to use having different kinds of social media platforms compared to Yahoo but I believe Yahoo started it all and Google just emerged and step in to the light because it offers a lot more and it is much better and easy to use. Before I used yahoo as my main emailing account but now I prefer gmail better, maybe yahoo is just too old for a new era still it does the job well but there are some hiccups here and there and google has been keeping up with regular updates on all aspects of it like for one is security. Overall it would be the best one out there so far.
Posted by Marako0406 on 07-25-2018
I started using emails in year 2000 and my first email was yahoo then followed by hotmail. Hotmail is under MSN. These two emails were well-known and first used of email users. However, since my job required gmail, so I needed to shift to gmail and that's what I am currently using until now. It is easier to use and doesn't have a lot of advertisements unlike Yahoo.
Posted by NesMarcos on 07-31-2018
I had a Yahoo account in the past but now I have shifted to GMAIL. I checked my Yahoo mail once in a while but GMAIL is my main email. This is linked with my other google products and services. I find it more secure and more convenient to use. For some reason, I find Yahoo mail not user friendly nor visually appealing. It appears cluttered. That's just my opinion.
Posted by Chinet23 on 08-21-2018
I prefer yahoo mail. Just like in linking to PayPal yahoo mail is easier to link. I first used my yahoo account.
Posted by jeffreyjose48 on 10-04-2018
I choose Gmail. This account I am using in this site is my gmail account. I also have a yahoo account but I like gmail account.
Posted by menchuuy58 on 11-08-2018
I use Gmail. What I like about the service is the way it allows you to organize information, and the ability to send and receive emails with any size attachments, something that both Hotmail and Yahoo! lack, as they limit the size to 10Mb. In terms of security, I take the basic care when using my account in the office; I configured my browser to not remember passwords, and I try not to allow other people to use my computer. Plus, I have my Gmail account configured with some filters so that any message from someone I do not know is sent directly to the SPAM folder.
Posted by mcnasci24 on 11-14-2018
I have an account in both yahoo and gmail but i usually use my yahoo mail especially if it work related, i found it more easily to use that gmail maybe because yahoo mail is my first mail. I only used my gmail for regstering in games and some apps.
